Family hiking in the holidays: Easy routes for parents with children and hobby-hikers

Easy-hiking Praxmar
Praxmar – Fernerboden
Walking time: 1 hour, degree of difficulty: blue
From the parking lot on the beautiful forest trail into the valley to Alpengasthof Lisens. From here continue on the still pretty flat trail to the end of the valley in Fernerboden.

Praxmar – Juifenau – Gries
Walking time: 1.5 hours, degree of difficulty: blue
First walk up the double bends on the road, the panorama trail begins on the left at the bridge, go past the waterfall to Juifenau and continue on to Gries or walk on the left side of the stream to Gries via the hamlet of Narötz (a bit shorter).

Hiking in the mountains: Tours for semi-professionals

Praxmar – Roter Kogel – Potsdamer Hütte / Route 2
Walking time: 5,5 hours, degree of difficulty: red
The walk to the Roten Kogel, down from the summit on a beautiful mountain path, passing many small mountain lakes to the Pforzheimer Hütte. A very nice walk!

Praxmar – Lampsenspitze jubilee-way
Walking time: 3.5 hours, degree of difficulty: red
From Praxmar extremely steep climb westwards up though alpine pastures. Via Schönbichl up to the Satteljoch, 2737 m. Don’t continue straight ahead on trail no. 144; instead go up to the right on trail no. 144a, easy climb to summit. A particularly splendid panorama.

Praxmar – Satteljoch – Pforzheimer Hütte
Walking time: 5 hours, degree of difficulty: red
Climb from Praxmar to the Satteljoch like to the Lampsenspitze. From the Satteljoch, first a steep climb, then over alpine pastures, followed by a short ascent to the Pforzheimer Hütte.
Difference in elevation: approx. 1800 m

Praxmar – Freihut
Walking time: 3.5 Stunden, degree of difficulty: red
From Praxmar walk north, first take the asphalt service road of TWAG, then continue on the steep track, first through the forest, then following the ridge. At 2000 meters in elevation turn right to Schöntal past the Rözer Grüblalm. Walk north into the hollow (approx. 2 hours to this point). Continue to the northwest on sharp bends up to the ridge. Walk along it, staying at almost the same elevation until you reach the Freihut summit cross. Beautiful panorama.

Praxmar – Zischgeles
Walking time: 4 Stunden, degree of difficulty: red
From Praxmar heading southwest on the steep track north of the Moarlerbach to the Kamplloch (2 hours). Turning up to the north, take the several steep sharp bends up to the Satteljoch. Through this valley-like hollow heading southwest turn up to the right on the northern ridge and via “Blockwerk” to the summit of the Zischgeles (in winter a popular ski tour).

Zirmsteig
Walking time: 3.5 hours, degree of difficulty: red
From the Lisenser Strasse via the trail to the Roter Kogel up to the Gallwieser Hochleger. From there the trail runs through a wonderful stone pine forest; continue on at an altitude of 2100 meters in the direction of Schönlisenstal, down into the “Spielgrube” and then to Lisens. A rewarding trail with a breathtaking view of the Lisenser Glacier.

Praxmar – Achselkogel – Juifenalm – Windegg
Walking time: 3.5 hours, degree of difficulty: rot
Climb first like to the Roter Kogel. After the Aflinger Alm, take the fork to the left through the stone pine forest and then via the Achselkogel down to the Juifenalm. From here, you can reach the “Fotscher Windegg” in 1 3/4 hours on a marked steep track via “Blockwerk”.

Praxmar – roter Kogel Jubiläumsweg
Walking time: 4 hours, degree of difficulty: red
From Praxmar down on the toboggan run, over the Melach, signs along the road! Through the forest up to the Gallwieser Hochleger. Shortly before it, turn left up to the Sömen. Then head south along the ridge to the summit cross.

Praxmar – Roter Kogel – Potsdamer Hütte
Walking time: 4 hours, degree of difficulty: red
From Praxmar down on the toboggan run, over the Melach, signs along the road! Through the forest up to the Gallwieser Hochleger. Shortly before it, turn left up to the Sömen. Then head south along the ridge to the summit cross.

Praxmar – Köllenzaiger
Walking time: 1,5 Stunden, degree of difficulty: red
Same markers as to the Zischgeles (no. 32) or Oberstkogel.

Praxmar – Oberstkogel
Walking time: 3 hours, Schwierigkeit: red
First take route no. 32 like to the Zschgeles to the turn-off (signpost), then walk up to the right on the eastern crest with many sharp bends to the summit cross.

Kirchsteig Praxmar – St. Sigmund
Walking time: 5 hours, degree of difficulty: black

From Praxmar over steep alpine meadows in the direction of Freihut (marker no. 30), then continue on no. 30a to St. Sigmund. A more difficult yet very charming trail with a view of several 3000 meter-high mountains.

Praxmar – Köllenzaiger – Westfalenhaus
Walking time: 5 hours, degree of difficulty: black
From Praxmar head south, after the parking lot climb up to the right on the forest track. Later on cross Schöntal north of Lisens and meet up with route 142 near Unterachsel which runs up from Lisens (approx. 1 hour, 20 minutes to this point). Soon afterwards you can enjoy the complete grandiose view of the Lisener Ferner. 
On the wide track turn down into Längental heading west until, after surmounting smaller “Seitengräber”, reaching the Westfalenhaus of the DAV Munster section at 2276 meters which is staffed from mid-June to the end of September. Back on the same trail or on the lower track walk first along the Längentaler Bach (stream) to the Längentaler Alm and on the right bank of the stream, in a more steep descent, to the Jugendheim Fernerboden.
